Blue and Gold Spirit Week Continued!

This is the last day to wear Blue and Gold this week because tomorrow is picture day. This is the first picture day in a long time that I haven't had my outfit planned at least a week in advance. I'm still looking for inspiration on Pinterest. I will definitely share pictures of my Picture Day outfit!

Last week we were learning all about maps and the continents. I taught my students a song I learned from one of my professors in college on how to remember the continents. My students loved it and still ask to sing it each day. I love doing songs in class. It's so much fun! We also made these fun World Maps with all of the continents and oceans on a blue paper plate. They did such an awesome job!

MORE Blue and Gold Spirit Week!

This week is crazy busy with meetings every day whether it's before school or after school. Today, we had a carry-in for lunch. Our school does something called "Birthday Cafe" where every month with celebrate all of the staff birthdays by either having a carry-in lunch or we order out lunch. We have three floors in our school so each floor has a month where they carry-in and a month where they pick where to order out from. Today was bottom floor's turn to carry-in, which is my floor (the best floor ;)) Ha! We did soups, salads, breads, and desserts. I brought in brownies...easy and delicious! :)
It was all so good and we were all in a food coma after eating so much! Ha!

It's been a busy Blue and Gold Spirit Week, but I'm loving all my blue and gold outfit combos!

Blue and Gold Spirit Week!

This week is our high school's homecoming, so the whole district is having a spirit week. Our school decided to just do blue and gold, Findlay Trojan spirit week and we have picture day on Friday. We will see how it goes. I believe I have enough blue and gold clothes because it's my favorite color combo! I'm still not positive what I will be wearing for Picture Day yet. That picture goes on our school badge, so it needs to be a good outfit (at least from the waist up). Ha!

Last Friday, my mom came in to volunteer in my classroom for the first time. She is going to be coming once every week. I'm so excited. They kids just loved her!! She said she had a blast too. She  let's them read to her and she fills out a reading conference form for each student. It's so helpful for me to read the notes to see how they read and if the book was easy, too hard, or just right. Also, it's nice to see how their well they are doing with reading comprehension. My mom has always loved reading, so this is right up her alley. :)

Here is my blue and gold outfit for today:

Navy and White Button Down from Macy's for $49.99.
LEI Cords from Walmart similar to these for $29.99.
Brown flats from Payless similar to these for $16.99.

I hope everyone had a great weekend!!!

Weekend with a Bestie!

Happy Monday everyone!!! Let's get this week started!

I had a great weekend this past weekend! Friday night I had a dinner date with my best friend Angie at Outback Steakhouse! I haven't been there in forever and it was delicious! Then, she came over and we watched a Netflix movie. We laughed and laughed. It was so nice catching up with her. Saturday morning I took Angie to see my classroom. She was amazed and how much things have changed since she was in first grade. Ha ha! :) Then, we checked out the good deals at Kohl's! Of course I left the store and when I went to put on one of the things I bought, I realized the huge sensor thing was still on it. DARN! Don't you hate when that happens!!!!!! After shopping, Colin and I went to his sister's house to celebrate her engagement and watch the Ohio State football game! It was so much fun! I'm so beyond happy for her and her fiance. :)

What I wore Friday night to dinner:

Statement Necklace from Amazon for $7.00!!
Express Polka Dot sweater from Gabe's similar to this for $4.99.
Guess Boyfriend Jeans from Gabe's similar to these for $36.94.

Stripes!

The temperatures have been quite cooler this week, so I can actually wear pants and still be comfortable. I absolutely love the chiffon flowy-ness of this top I got from Stitch Fix. It was cool and comfortable. It's also a high enough neckline, so I don't feel uncomfortable. I had my windows open all day yesterday in my classroom and leaves were blowing against the screen. I said, "Oh hello Fall! It's nice to see you."  I love fall weather and I have been craving some chili. YUM! The perfect football watching fall comfort food. :)

Today, I have a Marzano training all day with many other teachers in our school district. It will be a fun day to catch up with teachers and learn new things to incorporate in the classroom. I always love learning new things!! :)

Stitch Fix striped top similar to this for $22.94.
Khaki Pants from Wet Seal similar to these for $28.90.

Sailboats

I have always loved all things nautical. Most of my nautical things are red, white, or blue. When I saw PINK nautical clothing, I had to have it! This past weekend, my dad was in town at my grandpa's lake house which is in Northern Michigan. It's about a 6-7 hour drive. I was excited to go with my brother for the weekend to see him, but I got really overwhelmed with school stuff that has to be done throughout this week. I have a substitute teacher coming Wednesday. I have a Year 2 Resident Educator meeting that I need to have things done for. I have to finish all of my SLO's by Friday. I have had two new students, so I need to finish testing them to include them in my SLO's. I'm just very overwhelmed and I knew that would happen being a first year classroom teacher.

This weekend, I spent a lot of time in my classroom. I got a lot done too! I feel much better!

Here is my new favorite nautical clothing that I have in my closet!

Sailboat Dress from Red Dress Boutique similar to this for $37.99.

Classic Neutrals

This week we have had a few days that have been foggy, but no school delays. Many schools surrounding ours had delays and even cancelled school because of the fog this week. I would have loved an extra two hours to sleep in, I have been exhausted lately. I get home from school and I eat dinner and I'm ready for bed. I have been going to bed pretty early, but I'm still so tired the next morning. I think it's the heat. It's so hot in our school with no air conditioning. We had such a cool summer and now it's deciding to be HOT HOT HOT! Ha!

This week when I was tutoring a third grader at our local Library I saw one of my students. It's the first time this school year that I've seen one of my students from my class outside of school. You should have seen his face. He was so stinking cute! He was so excited to see me. Ha! Have you ever seen a student outside of school? Did you feel like a super star? :)

I wore this outfit this week and I loved how comfortable it was and the statement necklace really made my basic neutrals POP! I always feel that when I wear neutrals, I need either a pop of color in a belt or shoes or you need statement jewelry.

Purple Peridot Necklace for $27.99.
Lauren Conrad Chambray from Kohl's similar to this for $24.94.
Brown Reversible Belt from Kohl's similar to this for $26.
Striped Jersey Pencil Skirt from TJ Maxx similar to this for $22.94.

Happy Friday!!!
Have a great weekend everyone!!!

Back To School!

School has been keeping me so busy! First Grade is awesome! I absolutely love my class and they are doing so great learning all of the routines. I have to have my first substitute teacher of the school year next week for a training I have to go to. I'm so nervous about it. Does having a substitute teacher for your class ever make your nervous? I loved being a substitute teacher, so I shouldn't worry but I do. I just want my students to treat them nicely and I want the teacher to treat them nicely too.

This is what I wore to a Back to School cookout with all of the staff members from my school!
Polka Dot chambray from Stitch Fix similar to this for $24.
Gold reversible belt from TJ Maxx similar to this for $14.99.
J Crew Coral Shorts from J Crew Factory similar to these for $12.97.
Gold Sandals from TJ Maxx similar to these for $19.18.

I hope you are all having a great week!!!

Wedding Weekend!

This past weekend, my step brother who lives in Brooklyn, NY was in town for a family wedding we had. We had so much fun!!

On Friday we went to the fair to see my cousin do a routine with her horse. She was crowned Horse Queen of the entire fair this year, so she even got to ride with the flag for the National Anthem. I was a proud cousin watching her. She's awesome at what she does! We also enjoyed a lot of fair food!! YUM!

Saturday was another one of my cousin's wedding. It was so good to see my other cousins, aunts, and uncles. Colin came and he got to meet a bunch of people. It was a beautiful wedding and the food was delicious.

Classroom Tour and First Day of School Outfit!

WOW!!! The past two weeks have flown by! I'm so sorry I didn't have time to blog! I was so busy with back to school stuff. I am absolutely LOVING first grade! I knew I would! Before I give you a tour of my classroom (in pictures) I need to share my first day of school outfit! I always LOVE going back to school shopping and picking out new clothes! It's been a hot first few weeks, so everything I have been wearing consists of dresses, skirts, and no sleeves. We don't have air conditioning in our school building and it can get pretty hot. I can't even imagine how it would feel teaching on the third floor, so I'm thankful I'm not up there.

First Day of School:

Red layered necklace from Premier Jewelry similar to this for $15.
Lace Top from TJ Maxx similar to this for $22.80.
Stitch Fix pencil skirt!
Brown Flats from Payless similar to these for $16.99.

Open House Night

I taped little bags of confetti inside the card. They each got to take one home to read on Sunday night before school on Monday. You can find this free printable HERE

I had stations to make it more organized and I had labeled buckets for their supplies at the front of the room. The editable stations I used, you can find HERE.

A glimpse of my Zebra and Neon Colors Classroom!

 DIY Crate Shelf

I love all of the cool Calendar activities on the computer and SMART Boards, but I also know that technology can't be very reliable. I learned that last year being the technology teacher. I love my Math Calendar area. I have a Calendar Leader and then the rest of the students have a laminated version on the clipboards, so they can do everything with the Calendar Leader. They are laminated, so that they can use dry erase markers on them each day (saves paper).

I love my magnetic dry erase handwriting poster! It's awesome!

My awesome mom made my zebra curtains! She's amazing!

If my students answer a question and knock my socks off, they get to "Kiss Their Brain!". They love it!

 Table Teams!

 Lunch Count and Daily Tubs!

 Word Wall!

If a student has to go to the bathroom, I have them take the Pass (hand sanitizer) to their seat and leave it there while they go to the restroom. Then, when they get back they take one pump and put in back on the paper towel dispenser. This way I can see if someone is already at the bathroom if it's at someone's seat and I can see who is at the bathroom. Also, I KNOW that their hands are clean after going to the bathroom because they use hand sanitzer. :)

All Star Work wall to display student work.

That is a glimpse of my first grade classroom! It used to be the music room, so nothing was in it. I love the way it turned out!

I hope everyone who has started back to school, had a great first week or weeks. If you start back today, HAVE A GREAT FIRST DAY!!!!
