Spirit Week: Dress Like Your Favorite Book Character

I hope everyone had a wonderful Easter! The weather here was beautiful, so it was hard not to enjoy it! 

This week is spirit week before the students take their state tests next week. We try to make school fun and take their mind off of big tests. We had "pajama day" on Monday and "dress your best" on Tuesday for picture day. Today was "dress like your favorite book character". We had some fun with this day. There are so many book characters in the world, I only knew a few of the ones that some of the students dressed up as. I dressed up like Madeline. I always loved Madeline growing up. It was a really easy outfit to come up with too! I already had most of the outfit!

This week in school we have been talking about multiple meaning words. I had my students make multiple meaning word eggs. They had to write three meanings or clues for the word on the first egg and then the second egg would be the word. They have to guess the multiple meaning word on the second egg by reading the meanings/clues. They had so much fun making them and guessing everyone else's.

Today is our Friday at school because of Good Friday and Easter Weekend! I'm looking forward to a three day weekend! I hope everyone has a Happy Easter!

Classy Prep!

I hope this is the last time I'm wearing a vest and boots for awhile! I woke up and there was snow on the ground and the temperature dropped 40 degrees. Bi-polar Ohio weather. Ha! This week is another week with extended school days. The kids are going a little crazy by being in school an extra hour. A student told me I was his enemy today because I was making them type about what they did over spring break, during their technology class time. Haha! Oh I love my job. :)

Preppy and Classy

The weather is starting to warm up and I'm loving every minute of it! I hope it stays this nice now. The constant weather change was making me start to catch a cold. Thank goodness it's gone now! The flu has been going around like crazy at school. I've been extra careful to wash my hands a lot!

The comments or compliments I received while wearing this outfit...haha! I got "You look like a politician." "You look like a rich British woman!" "You look like you're going to the Kentucky Derby." haha! Oh how I love my job! :)

My Love of Blue and Gold!

So far, I'm surviving the extra long school days. It really isn't bad, until I get home and eat dinner and it's suddenly 8pm!!! Where did the day go? The evenings go TOO fast!

Cystic Fibrosis Fundraiser

This past Saturday one of the teachers I work with had a fundraiser for Cystic Fibrosis in a nearby town at a cute little restaurant. They had raffles, door prizes, auctioned off prizes, and lots of yummy food! It was extremely successful! Her daughter has Cystic Fibrosis, so they had thank you cards on each table with her footprint or hand print on it. It was so cute! You could tell that her and her husband were so truly thankful for everyone's support and donations. They also have a website where you can donate money. They are amazing!!
I loved seeing my coworkers there supporting them with me! We had tons of fun!

We have an extra long school week for the next three weeks. They are adding an extra hour to our school days to make up our snow days. I will be one sleepy teacher. Ha!

Spring Break!

Over my Spring Break, I did a lot of things! It started with helping paint our school's library. The librarian has been wanting to paint it for a long time and she finally took the plunge and we were there to help her. While we were painting the library, the teachers decided to paint the teacher's lounge and a hallway too. It looks so good!!! I was only able to help on Friday, but my coworkers kept sending me pictures as they made progress.

My mom and I drove to the lake on Monday morning to visit Nan. We went shopping in a nearby Amish town and had delicious soft pretzels. Then, we went out for dinner and watched the movie "Frozen". It was so good!!! We went shopping at the Outlet malls at the Lake on Tuesday and we went to lunch at one of our favorite restaurants at the lake called "Caruso's". They have the BEST breadsticks!!!

Wally and I went to see "Divergent" on Thursday. He works 12 hour shifts, so he usually has a few days off during the week and Thursday was one of them. It was such a good movie. I loved it so much I went and saw it a second time with my family when my brother came home for the weekend.
The weather was perfect Spring weather. Some days I didn't need my coat and some it poured down rain. Yay for Spring!
