Classroom Tour and First Day of School Outfit!

WOW!!! The past two weeks have flown by! I'm so sorry I didn't have time to blog! I was so busy with back to school stuff. I am absolutely LOVING first grade! I knew I would! Before I give you a tour of my classroom (in pictures) I need to share my first day of school outfit! I always LOVE going back to school shopping and picking out new clothes! It's been a hot first few weeks, so everything I have been wearing consists of dresses, skirts, and no sleeves. We don't have air conditioning in our school building and it can get pretty hot. I can't even imagine how it would feel teaching on the third floor, so I'm thankful I'm not up there.

First Day of School:

Red layered necklace from Premier Jewelry similar to this for $15.
Lace Top from TJ Maxx similar to this for $22.80.
Stitch Fix pencil skirt!
Brown Flats from Payless similar to these for $16.99.

Open House Night

I taped little bags of confetti inside the card. They each got to take one home to read on Sunday night before school on Monday. You can find this free printable HERE

I had stations to make it more organized and I had labeled buckets for their supplies at the front of the room. The editable stations I used, you can find HERE.

A glimpse of my Zebra and Neon Colors Classroom!

 DIY Crate Shelf

I love all of the cool Calendar activities on the computer and SMART Boards, but I also know that technology can't be very reliable. I learned that last year being the technology teacher. I love my Math Calendar area. I have a Calendar Leader and then the rest of the students have a laminated version on the clipboards, so they can do everything with the Calendar Leader. They are laminated, so that they can use dry erase markers on them each day (saves paper).

I love my magnetic dry erase handwriting poster! It's awesome!

My awesome mom made my zebra curtains! She's amazing!

If my students answer a question and knock my socks off, they get to "Kiss Their Brain!". They love it!

 Table Teams!

 Lunch Count and Daily Tubs!

 Word Wall!

If a student has to go to the bathroom, I have them take the Pass (hand sanitizer) to their seat and leave it there while they go to the restroom. Then, when they get back they take one pump and put in back on the paper towel dispenser. This way I can see if someone is already at the bathroom if it's at someone's seat and I can see who is at the bathroom. Also, I KNOW that their hands are clean after going to the bathroom because they use hand sanitzer. :)

All Star Work wall to display student work.

That is a glimpse of my first grade classroom! It used to be the music room, so nothing was in it. I love the way it turned out!

I hope everyone who has started back to school, had a great first week or weeks. If you start back today, HAVE A GREAT FIRST DAY!!!!

  2. I love your classroom and your back to school outfit! You're adorable and I am sure your students adore having a teacher with a "kiss your brain" jar! Such a fun idea! ;)

  3. I love your colors and the colored tables! I need those!! I am jealous of your large room and all the bulletin boards and display space you have. I have a teeny room for 18 kindergartners. I'm going to try Daily 5, not sure how it will go. Our school is departmentalized so I don't have a lot of time with my own class. Have a good school year!

  4. Such a cute classroom! I am so happy to have been able to watch your journey to your dream job. I love the hand sanitizer bathroom pass concept. I use it with my 4th graders too!

I hope you have a great year!
